Clearwater, FL — A deadly traffic crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist early this morning on U.S. 19 in Clearwater. According to Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue, the incident occurred just after midnight in the southbound lanes, south of Enterprise Road.
The victim, identified as 26-year-old Leon Webb of Largo, was riding a motorcycle that witnesses reported was speeding. Authorities say Webb lost control and collided with a barrier separating the main highway from the access road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash prompted the closure of the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 for several hours as police conducted their investigation. The road has since reopened.The Clearwater Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
