Plant City, FL – On Monday, September 29, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Plant City Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a male in distress in a pond at Samuel W. Cooper Park, located in the 900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Officers arrived and found that the individual had submerged and was not resurfacing. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team assisted in a search and recovery effort. The male was located, retrieved from the water, and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The individual’s identity is withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident is under investigation, and no further details are available. The Plant City Police Department acknowledged the assistance of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and Plant City Fire Rescue. Nothing further at this time.
