Lake Wales, FL – A major vehicle accident occurred early this morning near the intersection of Highway 653 and Old Bartow Lake Wales Road. Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Winter Haven Fire were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:33 a.m. following reports of a collision involving three vehicles.
According to the PCSO, at least one person has sustained serious bodily injuries. Two victims were critically injured and required immediate airlifting to a local hospital.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the cause of the accident. Expect delays in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area of Highway 653 and Old Bartow Lake Wales Road as the investigation continues and emergency crews work to clear the scene.
