
New Smyrna Beach, FL – A 29 year-old man was struck by lightning on New Smyrna Beach near the 27th Avenue approach on Friday, according to Volusia County Beach Safety officials. First responders performed CPR on the victim, who was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Storms developed in Central Florida early Friday afternoon, moving over New Smyrna Beach and prompting weather warnings.

Separately, at approximately 12:18 p.m., the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department reported that two golfers at Venetian Bay Golf Course were indirectly struck by lightning. Both individuals were evaluated at the scene and did not require emergency hospital transport.
