Lake Wales, FL – On July 18, 2025, at approximately 5:20 p.m., a fire broke out at a residence located at 237 Shady Oak Ave., according to Polk County Fire Rescue. Responding fire crews reported the single-story home was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival.
Three adult dogs and seven puppies were killed in the blaze. One adult and one pediatric patient were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The condition of the hospitalized individuals has not been released.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, but the extent of the damage to the property has not been disclosed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Polk County Fire Rescue and local authorities. No additional information regarding the incident or the victims has been provided at this time.
