Hillsborough Tax Office Collects $3.7B, Returns $25.6M in FY 2025

TAMPA, FL – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office today released its Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report, documenting record service levels, strong financial performance, and expanded community support.

Key highlights from Fiscal Year 2025 include:

  • Customers served in branch offices: More than 1 million (second consecutive year)
  • Total service transactions processed: More than 2.5 million
  • Phone calls handled: Over 424,000
  • Pieces of mail processed: Over 350,000
  • Customer satisfaction ratings:
  • 92.4% rated experience as excellent or very good
  • 86.4% rated service as excellent
  • 87% reported an excellent experience (related metric)
  • Google rating: 4.8 out of 5
  • Total collections: $3.7 billion in property taxes and other revenues
  • Unspent funds returned: $25.6 million to Hillsborough County taxing authorities ($22.9 million to the county general fund and $2.7 million to other agencies)
  • Expenditure to revenue ratio: 66.57%
  • Publix kiosk registration renewal transactions: 19% increase
  • Self-service kiosks introduced: 16 kiosks processed over 121,000 transactions (increase of nearly 12,000 from prior year)
  • Organizational recognition: Earned the Governor’s Sterling Award for excellence

Community and outreach efforts:

  • Kids Tag Art Program: Raised over $143,000 for Hillsborough County Schools since 2021
  • Staff donations to local organizations: Over 34,000 items donated to Hillsborough Education Foundation, Metropolitan Ministries, Feeding Tampa Bay, and others
  • Paint Your Heart Out Tampa participation: Nearly 44,000 items donated
  • Partnerships and volunteer activities with Metropolitan Ministries and Feeding Tampa Bay

Tax Collector Nancy Millan stated: “This year marks several historic milestones for our office. We have demonstrated that government service can be both innovative and accessible. Most importantly, we’ve shown that efficiency and empathy aren’t competing priorities – they’re partners in delivering the service our community deserves.”

The office also announced upcoming initiatives:

  • New satellite office at MacDill Air Force Base scheduled to open in Q1 2026 for military families, veterans, and personnel
  • Launch of “Miles,” a 40-foot mobile office bus, planned for early 2026 to provide on-site services, disaster support, and community event access
