Highlands County Man Guilty of Pushing Into Home, Attempting to Remove Victim’s Shirt

Avon Park, FL — A Highlands County jury has convicted Rolando Garcia-Ramos of burglary with assault or battery.

The incident occurred on January 15 in the area of Walnut Street. Deputies from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office responded after the victim reported that she heard a knock at her front door and opened it, believing it was her husband. Garcia-Ramos allegedly forced the door open, entered the residence, and attempted to remove the victim’s shirt. The victim escaped and sought help.

When deputies located Garcia-Ramos, he had blood and scratches on his face. Surveillance footage captured the incident.

Garcia-Ramos was found guilty following a trial. Sentencing is scheduled for December 15. State Attorney Brian Haas acknowledged Assistant State Attorney Richard Castillo and the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office for their roles in the case.
