On Monday, July 7, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Tampa Police responded to a shooting in the 4900 block of E. Busch Boulevard. Officers found an adult Black male with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigation indicates the victim and suspect, who were friends, were handling a firearm when it discharged. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives conducting interviews and gathering evidence to determine if criminal charges apply. The case will be reviewed by the State Attorney’s Office.
Firearms should be treated as loaded, pointed in a safe direction, and stored securely to prevent unintended discharges. Nothing further at this time.
