Fugitive Sex Offender Arrested in New Orleans for Intent to Meet Minor, Faces Up to 20 Years

Tampa, FL—On July 17, 2025, Christian Bert Fischer, 42, a fugitive sex offender, was arrested in New Orleans after U.S. Marshals, working alongside federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies from across the United States, successfully tracked his location. The Louisiana State Police and New Orleans Police Department took Fischer into custody without incident.

In January 2022, Christian Fischer was arrested by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (FL) for traveling to meet a minor for sexual purposes. In February 2024, Fischer’s case went to trial in Florida’s 5th Judicial Circuit. On day two of his trial, Fischer failed to appear in court. In response, the presiding judge issued a nationwide arrest warrant for Fischer. He was convicted in absentia.

In October 2024, the United States Marshals Service learned that Fischer was seen operating a motorhome in Idaho. Coordinated law enforcement apprehension efforts narrowly missed him at a campground outside of Cataldo and again at a location near Athol.

In April 2025, U.S. Marshals uncovered photographs of Fischer placing him in New Orleans. This information was provided to Louisiana state and local law enforcement agencies who subsequently arrested Fischer.

“The United States Marshals Service is proud to have supported the efforts of the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement offices across the nation in apprehending this fugitive sex offender.  The Middle District of Florida is committed to ensuring child predators will face justice regardless of where they seek safe haven.” – William Berger, United States Marshal – Middle District of Florida.

Fischer will be extradited back to Florida where he is pending sentencing in the state’s 5th Judicial Circuit.  Fischer is facing up to 20 years in state prison.
