Palm Harbor, FL (March 27, 2025) – According to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, a fire broke out early this morning at The Vue Lake Tarpon, located at 37611 US Hwy 19 N, after a female occupant reportedly fell asleep while smoking in bed.
The blaze was contained, thanks to the building’s fire sprinkler system, which activated and extinguished the flames, limiting damage to a single room. A neighbor, alerted by the sounding fire alarm, heroically broke down the door to rescue the occupant. The woman was transported by ground to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“This incident highlights the critical role of working fire alarms and sprinkler systems,” said a Palm Harbor Fire Rescue spokesperson. “The sprinkler system’s quick response protected the rest of the building and undoubtedly saved lives.” The rescue and containment are being hailed as a significant success, underscoring the value of built-in fire suppression technology. Further details are pending as the investigation continues. Nothing further at this time.
