Spring Hill, FL – On December 6, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Lightwood Street in Spring Hill regarding a reported battery.
Upon arrival, deputies contacted the adult female victim, who reported an argument with her live-in boyfriend, Cayden Lemay (DOB: 10-01-2003). The victim stated that during the dispute, Lemay pushed her into a bathroom.
The victim further reported that Lemay then grabbed her 12-week-old kitten, threw it to the ground, and stomped on it, resulting in the animal’s death.
Hernando County Animal Services responded and took custody of the deceased kitten.
Deputies established probable cause and arrested Cayden Lemay without incident. He was charged with:
- Aggravated Animal Cruelty (Felony)
- Domestic Battery (Misdemeanor)
Lemay was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center and initially held without bond. At first appearance, bond was set at $2,000.
