CLERMONT, FL – A tragic single-vehicle crash in Lake County claimed the life of the driver early this morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on County Road 474 east of Bruno Road, in an unincorporated area near Clermont (south of Groveland).
A 2008 Mazda 3 sedan was traveling westbound on County Road 474 when, for reasons still unknown, the driver veered off the roadway to the right. The vehicle overturned, and the impact caused it to become engulfed in flames.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other occupants or vehicles were reported involved.
The victim’s identity have not yet been released, as the Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the deceased and will notify FHP once identification is complete.
The crash remains under active investigation. No additional details on contributing factors—such as speed, impairment, or mechanical issues, have been released at this time.
