Lake County, FL – On September 21, 2025, at 1:54 AM, a fatal crash occurred on US Highway 27 north of Frank Jarrell Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2019 Audi Q5 was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed in the northbound inside lane, driving the wrong way. The Audi Q5 collided head-on with a 2021 Toyota Camry traveling northbound.
The 22-year-old male driver of the Audi Q5 from Windermere, FL, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert. The 28-year-old male driver of the Toyota Camry from Orlando, FL, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin for the deceased has not been notified.
Seatbelt or child restraint use for both drivers is unknown, and helmets were not applicable. The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
