BREVARD COUNTY, FL – On Monday, December 22, 2025, at approximately 9:04 a.m. on northbound Interstate 95 near mile marker 228, a fatal crash led to the death of a roadside traffic worker from Davenport, 34.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2007 semi-truck with trailer, traveling northbound in the outside lane and driven by a 63-year-old male from Orlando, Florida, struck the rear of a parked 2024 GMC Sierra maintenance-of-traffic truck. The maintenance truck had its arrow board and lights activated while responding to a vehicle fire incident ahead.
The impact caused both vehicles to collide with the outside shoulder guardrail.
The driver of the maintenance truck, a 34-year-old male from Davenport, Florida, was pronounced deceased on scene.
A 42-year-old male passenger from Saint Cloud, Florida, in the maintenance truck sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Lake Monroe Hospital. The semi-truck driver sustained no injuries, was wearing a seatbelt, and remained on scene, according to FHP.
The crash remains under investigation. Nothing further at this time.
