The City of Winter Haven has announced adjustments to its solid waste collection schedule in observance of Christmas Day on Thursday, December 25.
Residents serviced by the City should note the following changes for the week of December 22-27:
- Monday, December 22: No changes – regular collection.
- Tuesday, December 23: No changes – regular collection.
- Wednesday, December 24 (Christmas Eve): No changes – regular collection.
- Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day): No collection. Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, December 26.
- Friday, December 26: No regular collection. Friday routes will be collected on Saturday, December 27.
These adjustments ensure city workers can observe the holiday while minimizing disruptions.
City vs. County Services
Residents can identify their service provider by the color of their containers:
- Blue or green cans: Serviced by the City of Winter Haven.
- Grey or black cans: Serviced by Polk County Solid Waste.
Polk County residents in unincorporated areas should check the county’s website or contact them directly, as their holiday schedule may differ (typically shifting collections one day later after the holiday).
