Bomb Squad Safely Removes Land Mine Turned In to Auburndale Police

Auburndale, Florida – February 12, 2026 — Authorities in Auburndale have declared the area safe following the safe removal of a suspicious device that an individual turned in to the Auburndale Police Department.

A citizen turned in what was described as a land mine to the department. The device was immediately secured by law enforcement personnel and safely removed from the area.

According to the Auburndale Police Department: “Our units were the initial responding officers. Once the scene was secured, we requested assistance from the Tampa Bomb Squad, who—upon their arrival—removed the device and assumed the investigation. We do not have any further involvement.”

Out of an abundance of caution during the response, law enforcement recommended voluntary evacuation for residents and businesses in the vicinity, including areas along Union Street, Ariana Avenue, Bobby Green Plaza, Main Street, and Bridgers Avenue. A significant law enforcement presence was maintained to manage the scene and protect the community and first responders.

The public was asked to avoid the area and refrain from interfering with operations. Officials also urged residents not to flood non-emergency lines with calls, as the department was fully aware and managing the situation.

No injuries were reported, and the voluntary evacuation recommendation was lifted with the all-clear. This appears to be an isolated event, and the investigation into the origins of the device is ongoing. Nothing further at this time.
