Deland, FL – On July 21, 2025, at 6:49 AM, a fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Old New York Avenue and Euclid Avenue in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol press release.
A 2015 Ford F250 pickup truck, driven by a 73-year-old male from Deland, was traveling westbound on Old New York Avenue and made a right turn to head north on Euclid Avenue. A 38-year-old male bicyclist from Deland was traveling southbound on Euclid Avenue and approached the same intersection. The bicyclist ran a stop sign and swerved left into the path of the pickup truck. The driver of the truck swerved right in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the front of the vehicle struck the bicyclist.

The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained no injuries and remained at the scene. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, and next of kin have not yet been notified.
The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Taylor (Crash Investigator) and Corporal Pratts (Homicide Investigator) of the Florida Highway Patrol.
