Avelo Airlines Streamlines Network Around Lakeland

Avelo Airlines has been recapitalized, resulting in one of the strongest cash positions in the U.S. airline industry relative to its size, the airline announced this week. The airline intends to use this strengthened balance sheet and cash infusion to execute its long-term growth strategy.

As part of the plan, Avelo is concentrating its network around the following four existing bases:

  • Central Florida / Lakeland (LAL)
  • New Haven, Conn. (HVN)
  • Philadelphia / Delaware Valley (ILG)
  • Charlotte / Concord, N.C. (USA)

The airline will also establish a new base at Dallas / McKinney, Texas (TKI) in late 2026.

Avelo will close its bases at the following locations:

  • Mesa, Ariz. (AZA)
  • Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (RDU)
  • Wilmington, N.C. (ILM)

The changes include near-term schedule adjustments that will affect many customer itineraries. Avelo will notify impacted customers directly via email and text message. Customers requiring further assistance can contact the airline’s Customer Support Center.

The airline’s fleet will be adjusted by retiring six Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 aircraft. Following the change, operations will primarily utilize the more fuel-efficient Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft.

These network and fleet modifications are designed to enable sustainable scaling of five core bases in 2026 and position the company for future expansion. The strategy is supported by Avelo’s recent order for up to 100 Embraer 195-E2 aircraft.

Avelo Airlines currently operates Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft and is set to become the first U.S. carrier to introduce the Embraer 195-E2. The airline focuses on safe, convenient travel with everyday low fares and maintains a strong record in on-time performance and reliability. Additional information is available at AveloAir.com.
