Sheriff Marcos Lopez Granted $1 Million Bond in Racketeering Case
A Lake County judge set a $1 million bond Friday for suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez, charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. The bond is split at $500,000 per charge. Investigators allege Lopez was tied to an illegal gambling operation that raked in over $20 million.
On Thursday, Lopez was stripped of his badge and gun upon entering a federal building, where he was arrested. The charges have stunned Central Florida’s law enforcement community. Channel 9 has a crew at Lake County Jail and will provide updates as the story develops.
