UPDATE: Fatal Shooting at Kissimmee Checkers, Employee Charged with Murder
New arrest records reveal details about a fatal shooting at a Checkers restaurant on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee.
On Thursday, 23-year-old employee Elijah Travis Mackey allegedly shot and killed customer Wesley Robertson during a heated argument at the drive-thru.

Records show the dispute began when Robertson complained about his order, possibly requesting mayonnaise packets, and repeatedly asked for a manager. Mackey approached the window, and the argument escalated with Robertson reportedly using offensive language. Mackey then pulled a handgun from his waistband and shot Robertson, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Mackey was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder. On Friday, an Osceola County judge ordered him held without bail. The Checkers remains closed, with caution tape in place, and no reopening date has been announced.
Checkers spokesperson Kim Francis stated, “We are shocked and saddened by this incident. The actions of this one employee do not reflect the values of our hardworking staff. We are cooperating fully with police and send our thoughts to the guest’s family.”
The investigation is ongoing. Further updates will follow as new information emerges.
