DAVENPORT, FL — Polk County Utilities crews and contractors are working through stormy weather to repair an ongoing sewage spill near Champions Gate Boulevard in Davenport after a 24-inch sewer main failed Sunday morning.
According to Polk County Utilities, the same sewer main previously failed in November 2025. Contractors began installing a replacement main in April, which is currently undergoing testing and is expected to become operational before the end of the year.
Crews have successfully diverted the sewage flow to a nearby retention pond while repairs continue.
Officials say traffic has not been impacted by the repairs. However, existing lane closures associated with ongoing construction projects remain in place.
There is currently no estimated completion time for the repairs. Additional updates will be provided as work progresses.
