KISSIMMEE, FL — A fatal hit-and-run is being investigated in Kissimmee after a pedestrian was struck and killed early Friday morning on U.S. 192 near International Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. Friday, September 25.
Troopers said an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on U.S. 192, also known as Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, when an adult male pedestrian ran from the south shoulder across the roadway. The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and entered the path of the vehicle.
The pedestrian was struck by the right front portion of the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
FHP said the driver fled following the crash. Traffic homicide investigators recovered vehicle parts at the scene and believe the vehicle may be a 2007–2010 metallic black Ford Edge.
The identity of the pedestrian remains pending. The crash remains under investigation.
