PLANT CITY, FL — Shortly before midnight on Friday, April 17, a crash along State Road 60 killed both a driver and a pedestrian, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say a GMC Yukon, driven by a 20-year-old Plant City man, was traveling westbound on SR-60 just west of Horton Road at approximately 11:25 p.m. when a 50-year-old Plant City woman walked into the vehicle’s path.
Despite taking evasive action, the driver was unable to avoid the collision and struck the pedestrian. The vehicle then left the roadway and overturned. During the crash, the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Both the driver and the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries at the scene. FHP is investigating. Nothing further at this time.
