OSCEOLA COUNTY, FL – County and state leaders today held a groundbreaking ceremony at NeoCity for a new 30,000-square-foot multi-use laboratory facility.
The $22 million project, supported by a $17.5 million grant from Florida Commerce’s Florida Job Growth Grant Fund, will feature wet, dry, and cryogenic lab spaces to support existing tenants and attract new companies in advanced manufacturing and semiconductors.
Participating in the event were Osceola Board of County Commissioners Chairman Brandon Arrington, County Manager Don Fisher, and Florida Commerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly, who unveiled renderings of the future building.
Chairman Arrington called the lab a strategic investment to meet industry needs and remove growth barriers, noting its design draws inspiration from microchip wafer layers and iridescence.

Secretary Kelly highlighted Florida’s strong but previously underrecognized semiconductor sector and NeoCity’s growing international profile, with delegations from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea visiting the site.
Launched in 2014, NeoCity seeks to diversify the local economy by attracting high-tech industries. It is adjacent to a major Spaceport/Seaport/Airport/Rail hub and partners with institutions including SkyWater Florida, imec, the University of Florida’s Florida Semiconductor Institute, and the NSF’s Florida Semiconductor Engine. NeoCity Academy ranks first in Central Florida, second in the state, and 34th nationally among public high schools.
