Winter Haven, FL. — A two-vehicle crash occurred on November 2, 2025, at approximately 2:19 a.m. at the intersection of 1st Street S and SR-540 (Cypress Gardens Boulevard) in Winter Haven.
A Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old man from Winter Haven was traveling southbound on 1st Street S approaching the intersection. A Winter Haven Police Department Tahoe driven by a 23-year-old male officer was traveling eastbound in the outside eastbound lane of SR-540 approaching the same intersection. The Tahoe was responding to a call in emergency mode.
As the Tahoe passed through the intersection, the Honda Accord entered the intersection at high speed. The front of the Honda Accord struck the front left of the Tahoe. Both vehicles were redirected southeast.
The Honda Accord ran off the roadway toward the Dutch Brothers Coffee parking lot, struck a roadside sign and a raised landscape feature, and overturned. The Tahoe rotated off the roadway toward the Dutch Brothers Coffee parking lot and came to final rest facing west. The Honda Accord came to final rest facing northeast on its left side near the Tahoe.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. Charges are pending against the driver of the Honda Accord.
