Florida Man Stabs Victim After Asking for a Cigarette at Clearwater Gas Station

Clearwater, FL – On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at approximately 12:54 a.m., a 51-year-old man was at the Rally Gas Station at 3400 Ulmerton Road in Clearwater, smoking a cigarette. Enrique Lopez, 44, asked the 51-year-old man for a cigarette. The two conversed. Lopez walked away to speak to another patron, then returned and punched the 51-year-old man in the face. The 51-year-old man attempted to walk away. Lopez followed and continued punching until the 51-year-old man fell to the ground. Lopez then stabbed the 51-year-old man repeatedly.

Deputies arrived. Lopez retreated inside the gas station. Deputies took Lopez into custody.

The 51-year-old man was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Lopez was transported to the hospital, medically cleared, and booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, and Resisting an Officer with Violence. The investigation continues. Nothing further at this time.
