Winter Haven, FL – On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juanita McCoy, a 45-year-old teacher at Lake Shipp Elementary School, for filing a false report of a crime. On October 19, 2025, McCoy reported that another teacher at the school intentionally bumped into her on a school walkway.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, McCoy initially cooperated with deputies but later declined to provide further information. The other teacher denied any physical contact, stating that McCoy partially blocked the walkway, requiring the teacher to walk around her. Security footage reviewed by deputies confirmed the other teacher’s account, showing no contact occurred.
The Sheriff’s Office noted a prior incident in February 2020, when McCoy accused the same teacher of a similar intentional bump. That case was closed without charges after both parties signed waivers of prosecution.
McCoy was charged with False Report of a Crime to Law Enforcement, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center. McCoy’s current employment status is unclear. Nothing further at this time.
