29-Year-Old Man Killed in Interstate 4 Crash Near S.R. 33

LAKELAND, FL — A fatal vehicle crash on Interstate 4 near the State Road 33 exit in Lakeland claimed the life of a 29-year-old Riverview man Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. on September 16 as the man was driving a Toyota Corolla eastbound in the outside lane of I-4.

According to FHP, the driver lost control of the Corolla near the entrance to the Exit 38 ramp and struck a crash attenuator. The vehicle then rotated into the path of a Ford F-150 traveling eastbound along the SR-33 exit ramp.

The pickup truck, driven by a 27-year-old Lakeland man, struck the Corolla. The Riverview man was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from injuries suffered in the crash.

The Lakeland man suffered minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital. Nothing further at this time.
