LAKE WALES, FL — On Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Lake Wales Police Department officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of South 9th Street and Columbia Avenue.
Officers located 20-year-old Jayvyn McFadden of Lake Wales suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel provided emergency aid and transported McFadden to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
During the investigation, 19-year-old Miles Edward Brown of Frostproof voluntarily surrendered at the Lake Wales Police Department. Brown was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
Investigators state no additional suspects are being sought and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
