16-Year-Old Passenger Fatally Injured in I-4 Collision Involving Teenage Drivers

Tampa, FL — A tragic collision on Interstate 4 near Milepost 15 claimed the life of a 16-year-old Tampa male and left multiple teens injured late Wednesday night, April 16, 2025, at approximately 10:48 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 16-year-old male from Temple Terrace, driving a Dodge SUV eastbound in the middle lane, attempted to change lanes and collided with a Cadillac CTS driven by a 17-year-old male from Tampa in the inside lane. The impact caused both vehicles to veer onto the outside shoulder, where the Cadillac overturned, and the Dodge struck a concrete culvert.

The unrestrained 16-year-old passenger in the Dodge SUV suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Two other passengers in the Dodge, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, both from Tampa, sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Dodge reported minor injuries, while the driver of the Cadillac was uninjured.

Three passengers in the Cadillac—a 16-year-old female from Tampa and two 16-year-old males from Seffner—suffered minor injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause of the lane change that led to the crash. Nothing further at this time.
