Leesburg, FL – On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 9:44 PM, a fatal crash occurred on Florida’s Turnpike southbound at mile marker 291 in Lake County.
A 2024 Hino tow truck, driven by a 53-year-old male from Ocala, was traveling partially in the outside lane and outside shoulder. A 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E, driven by an 18-year-old female from Southwest Ranches, was traveling in the outside lane. The tow truck merged from the shoulder into the path of the Mustang, resulting in a collision where the front of the Mustang struck the rear of the tow truck. The tow truck driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained no injuries and remained on scene. The Mustang driver, also wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased on scene.
Next of kin were notified. The crash remains under investigation. Nothing further at this time.
