ST. CLOUD, FL — A 17-year-old student at Harmony High School in Osceola County was brutally attacked by a group of nine students after defending a female student who was being bullied during lunch, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. The attack left the victim with facial injuries requiring 11 stitches and resulted in the arrest of nine students on felony charges.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began on October 16, 2026, when the victim and his girlfriend witnessed students throwing carrots at another female student inside the school cafeteria. The victim intervened, telling the students to stop throwing food. Following a verbal confrontation with two male students, he attempted to de-escalate the situation by walking away with his girlfriend.
Later that afternoon, shortly after 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a physical altercation near a tunnel outside Harmony High School. Investigators say the victim was walking to his vehicle when one student struck him. Eight additional students then joined the attack, repeatedly punching him in the face and head.

The victim’s mother transported him to a hospital, where he received 11 stitches to close wounds on his face.
Investigators obtained cellphone video of the attack, which helped deputies identify all nine suspects.
On Wednesday, October 21, deputies returned to Harmony High School and arrested nine male students in cooperation with school officials. All nine face felony charges of aggravated battery and inciting a riot.
Two 18-year-old suspects were booked into the Osceola County Jail, while seven juvenile suspects were transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Osceola County School District Superintendent Dr. Mark Shanoff condemned the violence, emphasizing that physical intimidation, threats and acts of violence will not be tolerated on or off school campuses.
Sheriff Chris Blackmon also issued a warning to students throughout Osceola County.
“If you put your hands on another student on or off campus, deputies will arrest you,” Blackmon stated.
The sheriff praised the victim for intervening in the bullying incident, calling him brave while condemning the actions of the nine students involved.
“This victim did the right thing by standing up for another student being bullied,” Blackmon said. “He is the brave one, the 9 teens that chose violence against him are the cowards.”
