
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (April 3, 2025) – Today, St. Petersburg City Councilapproved resolutions to begin repairs to the roof of Tropicana Field.

The $23million approved for the stadium’s roof repairs will cover the cost offabrication, delivery, and installation of PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) roofmembrane.
Last October, Hurricane Milton caused damage to Tropicana Field’s roof; and the City is obligated to diligently pursue repairs to make the stadium suitable for Tampa Bay Rays home games again.
Following today’s approval, manufacturing will begin for the roof material. Roof replacement is expected to be completed by December 2025. Once the roofreplacement is completed, the City will make plans to begin interior repairsand turf installation. All stadium repairs are currently scheduled to be complete by April 2026.

Today’s vote follows a City Council approval from December 2024. On December 12, City Council approved a design-build agreement to provide pre-constructionphase services for the Tropicana Field Emergency Roof Replacement Project.Today’s approval allows City contractors to move into the construction phaseof the project.
Now that roof repairs are approved, this summer, City Council will vote onfour interior repair packages. The four interior repair packages will include: metal panel repair/replacement, sports lighting, low-voltage/audio/visual, and architectural/ mechanical/ baseball-specific items (drywall, flooring,cabinetry, isolated mechanical, turf, clay netting, etc.).
