Manatee County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a small plane crash that resulted in no injuries at the Myakka Head Airport, located at 42650 State Road 64 East.
Shortly after 10:00 AM on April 23, 2025, a single-engine plane began to yaw to the left during takeoff from the private airstrip and subsequently crashed into nearby trees. The three individuals on board were unharmed and were able to exit the wreckage safely. One person sustained minor scrapes while navigating through thick brush, but no one required emergency treatment.
A brush fire ignited because of the crash but has since been brought under control. Deputies are on the scene, and the FAA has been notified to conduct a crash investigation.
